Euphemism,a common language phenomenon,plays an important role in interpersonal communication.Chinese euphemism,a kind of unique Chinese culture,is a tool for the smooth conduct of Chinese communication.The correct use of euphemism is one of the important criteria to measure the communicative competence of second language learners.Thus it can be seen that Chinese euphemism plays an important role in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language,and how to improve the level of foreign students’ acquisition of euphemism needs to be studied deeply.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part is an analysis of the teaching materials the intermediate spoken Chinese(Second Edition)which is used by Mongolia International College Students in Erenhot International College under the basis of the current situation of teaching Chinese euphemism in the same college.Then a questionnaire survey of foreign students’ acquisition of euphemism is done.The euphemisms involved in the teaching materialsare divided into four categories,namely,lexical euphemism,semantic euphemism,pragmatic euphemism and grammatical euphemism.The second part is the analysis of the causes of the errors in the use of euphemism in Mongolian students.First of all,it’s difficult for Mongolian students to learn the Chinese euphemism because of its complexity and fuzziness.Secondly,the differences cultural background affects the study of Euphemism.Finally,there is not enough attention to Chinese Euphemism both in aspect of teaching material and teachers.The teaching materials for Mongolian students are relatively imperfect.The third part is about teaching practice strategy of Mongolian students learning euphemism.The strategy is based on the correlative theory of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and the author’s teaching experience.The author teaches students euphemism through explaining the scope of application of euphemism,cultural psychology and situation teaching method.The fourth part is to propose the corresponding teaching strategies to solve problems.First of all,the author thinks that foreign language teachers are extremely important for students in Euphemism.In the teaching of Chinese euphemism,teachers should pay attention to the students’ cross cultural teaching,and cultivate the awareness of intercultural communication,so that the foreign students can integrateinto the life of Chinese people.Euphemism is a complex and temporal spirit language system,foreign language teachers should conduct euphemism teaching based on the development of the times,then combined with the specific context in daily teaching,so that students can feel the role of Chinese Euphemism in life.The Chinese euphemism teaching should run through the whole learning stage of the students from junior to senior.Secondly,in the process of second language acquisition,a suitable teaching material is also very important for learners.So it is necessary for us to make a series of Chinese teaching materials that suit for Mongolia students.Finally,for Mongolia students,in order to grasp the euphemism and get skill of communication,it’s important to cultivate the cultural connotation and to learn the cultural knowledge behind the language.
