A Translation Report Of Energy Law In Brazil(Chapter 3?4)

This thesis is a translation report.The source text is Energy Law in Brazil(chapter 3-4).Energy is not only a national strategic reserve resources,but also an indispensable material to daily life.The energy law is closely related to national security and social sustainable development.China and Brazil,as the largest developing countries in the Eastern Hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere,have a natural complementarity in terms of energy.With the significant increase in energy cooperation between China and Brazil in recent years,translating Energy Law In Brazil not only promotes the energy cooperation between the two countries,but also has important significance in formulating and improving Chinese energy laws and regulations.The project report consists of four chapters.Chapter One is an introduction,including background of translation project,purpose and significance of translation project,content of source text and linguistic features of source text.Chapter Two elaborates translation process including preparation before translation and proofreading.Chapter Three is the specific case study under the guidance of communicative translation theory from the aspects of lexical level,syntactic level and contextual level.Chapter Four summarizes the enlightenment and lessons learned in the translation process and the problems that remain to be solved.The source material of this translation is based on Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 of Energy law in Brazil published by Springer Press in 2015.Different from other legal texts,the book demonstrates the construction process of energy law in Brazil and summarizes some energy regulations.According to Newmark's translation theory,in the process of translation,paragraphs are the unit that reflect the final quality evaluation;sentences are the basic operation units;and most of the problems occur on the lexical level.Therefore,communicative translation is applied to solve problems in the translation project from three aspects:terminology,sentence,and context.Through this translation practice,the translator has grasped the stylistic features and translation methods of English legal text and petroleum science and technology text,which lays the foundation for the future work of the translator in the translation of English legal document and petroleum science and technology text.
