A Report On Communication-Based Translation Of Chapter ? Of New Energy Concept

Nowadays,multilateral energy diplomacy is increasingly becoming the mainstream of international energy diplomacy.In the energy field,the interconnection between China and the world has increased significantly,and China has become an active participant in international energy cooperation.Therefore,with the increasing of Chinese-English translations on energy diplomacy,translators need to conduct further research of the translation in this field to improve the quality of translation.With the aid of related translation materials,this thesis is a Chinese-English translation practice report under the guidance of communicative translation theory.The source text is the sixth chapter of New Energy Concept written by Zhao Hongtu,that is Energy Diplomacy: From “Bilateral Diplomacy” to “Global Energy Governance”.This chapter mainly introduces the world's energy diplomacy after World War II and analyzes the trend that China will shift its bilateral energy diplomacy into multilateral energy diplomacy cooperation in the context of The Belt and Road Initiative.As information text,this type of text should be guided by communicative translation strategy according to Newmark's text typology on the basis of the principle of accuracy,loyalty and readability.This paper can be divided into four parts.The first part briefly introduces the translation background,the meaning of translation and relevant pre-translation preparations.The second part details the features of the source text from three aspects of lexis,syntax and discourse.In addition,the theory applied in this translation practice is also presented.The third part is case studies from three aspects including vocabulary,sentence and discourse under the guidance of communicative translation theory.For example,at the lexical level,the translator needs to verify the special terms and dive the surface for an accurate translation of vague vocabulary;at syntactic level,the translator focuses on the order adjustment and division of long and complex sentences as well as the translation of non-subject sentences;at textual level,it is essential to utilize some cohesive devices to make the translation as coherent as possible.The fourth part is the conclusion summarizing the experience,the related enlightenment,the existing limitations as well as attitudes that professional translators should possess.
