This is a translation project report on the translation of Chapter 6 of The End of Average: How We Succeed in a World That Values Sameness.In this book,Todd Rose,a rising star in the new field of the science of the individual,shows that no one is average.Weaving science,history,and his personal experiences as a high school dropout,Rose offers the three principles of individuality,which helps us pursue personalized medicine and personalized education and better workplace environments.Taking Newmark's theory as the theoretical basis,the translator discusses the application of communicative translation in translation of Chapter 6 We All Walk the Road Less Traveled.The content of the translation project can be divided into 5chapters.Chapter One is about the introduction of the report,including its background,significance and main structure.Chapter Two makes an analysis of the source text,which contains the introduction to the author,as well as the main content and textual analysis of the source text.In Chapter Three,emphasis is put on the Newmark's theory applied in the process of translating.Chapter Four focuses on the translation difficulties in terminologies and long sentences as well as corresponding techniques such as conversion,division and restructuring.Chapter Five makes a conclusion about the findings and the unsolved problems.
