Silk and Tea in the North: Scandinavian Trade and the Market for Asian Goods in Eighteenth-Century Europe, written by Hanna Hodacs,is based on the history of seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, detailing tea and silk trade between Scandinavian,Europe and Asia. With the development of the Belt and Road initiative advocated by China in new era,the trade and investment between China and Scandinavia has grown rapidly. The relationship between the two countries needs to be further strengthened. However, there is little information about their exchanges, and the researches on the economy can not be deepened.Through the translation project, economists and learners are able to know more about the long history of trade with Scandinavia and China, and the opportunities and challenges on trade can also be found out,so that the economy can be improved.According to Peter Newmark's text type theory, the source text of the translation project is an informative text, which is designed to convey the message and to tell readers the facts of the study. In the process of translating the source language into the target language, differences in culture, rhetoric, etc.can cause the loss of source-language messages.Various methods and techniques of translation should be adopted to make up for these losses to the greatest extent based on the text type of the originals,so that target readers can better understand it.The source text of the translation project excerpts the fourth chapter from Hanna Hodacs' s thesis, focusing on the analysis of translation compensation methods used in informative texts, including cultural compensation, grammatical compensation, semantic compensation and aesthetic compensation, among which cultural compensation and grammatical compensation are the keys.In the project, annotation and substitution are employed to compensate it in culture, the conversion and inversion in grammatical level, while amplification and specification for pragmatic compensation. For aesthetic compensation,four-character structure is used to enhance the sense of beauty.
