The translation material of the translation report is selected from the book Is Everyone Really Equal which belongs to multicultural education series.The book mainly introduces some important concepts in social justice education,including critical thinking,socialization,group identification,prejudice,discrimination,oppression,power,privilege and white supremacy.Two authors of the book,Ozlem Sensoy and Robin DiAngelo,are educators who have had more than two decades research and practical experience of social justice education.Education is related to the fate of our country,and attracts more and more attention from all circles of society.Currently,there are few books on social justice education in China,and this book has no Chinese translation version.Under the guidance of Newmark's Text Type Theory,this paper analyzes and summarizes the translation methods and techniques for academic works,which provides a closet natural version for target readers.Therefore,the translation report has certain practical significance and academic value.According to Newmark's classification of text type,the translation material belongs to the typical informative text.Therefore,in this translation report,the author uses case analysis to study the specific application of communicative translation and semantic translation in translation of vocabulary,sentence and discourse.It mainly involves the translation of terminologies and abstract nouns,the translation of passive and long sentences and the translation of textual cohesion and coherence.The translation practice proves that the text typology theory plays a guiding role in the translation of informative texts and also has some reference significance for the future translation practice of this kind of text.
