The development of tourism industry is of great importance to a city,and the tourism advertising makes a huge difference in tourism development.The World and Chongqing,as the only official magazine sponsored by the government,takes the responsibility of advertising.As a result,how to translate the tourism texts to achieve a better communication effect becomes an urgent problem that needs to be solved.Communication science,risen in 1940 s,can give some guidance in the translation of The World and Chongqing.And Harold Lasswell's 5W mode and the corresponding 5 ways of analysis almost cover all the content of communication science.In order to make certain what kind of translation strategies and methods can be adopted for a better communication,the author employed Lasswell's communication in this study.The thesis,analyzed the tourism texts of The World and Chongqing from “three functions”,“5W mode”,“needs and values”,and “efficient communication” reaching a conclusion of what translation strategies and methods can be used in translating.First of all,it is a basic requirement to ensure the authenticity of the translation according to different requirements of the readers from different cultural background.Second,some persuasive expressions should be employed in translating the tourism texts since it may contribute to a better communication effect.Third,great importance should be attached into the solutions that people cared about.At last,the translators can give different versions of the tourism texts to meet the needs of different communication channels.At the end of the thesis,the author put forward the question: how do the translators of tourism texts deal with the challenges bringing by the globalization.Because of the limitation of time and thesis,the author cannot find out the answers,hoping the question can to do some help for the studies in the coming years.
