A Reflective Research Report On The Escort Interpreting Of The Former Site Museum Of Changchun Film Studio

With the ongoing development of globalization and diversification,English is no longer unique to the English native speakers.Instead,people of different language background become the major users of World Englishes,which has become a trend.Within this backdrop,it is of significance to study the problems occurred in interpreting of cultural exchange.In request of a friend,Zhang Xi,I escorted Bright Mensah,a PhD student majored in international relations in Jilin University to visit the Former Site Museum of Changchun Film Studio.Hard as the interpreter tried to prepare for the task,still many problems are committed during the course due to the characteristics of escort interpreting.This reflective report is based on the transcript of the recording the interpreter made during the visit which lasted for four hours.This report addresses the interpreting problems from different approaches with examples from the transcript,with the purpose to find solutions and countermeasures to the problems.This report hopes to provide some suggestions to later such practices.Apart from Introduction and Conclusion,the author firstly gives a general introduction to the tourist,the guide and the interpreting task,emphasizing the aspects that will affect the escort interpreting task and preparation.Then she describes the preparation for the task.Then she analyzes the problems during the interpreting course and seeks solutions in response.Finally,she puts forward some suggestions for improving interpreting.
