A Reflective Report On The E-C CI Of CRRC And Downer's Co-bidding Conference

Nearly 3000 years ago,dragomen emerged in Egypt.At the same time,�??�(people served as tongue between countries with different languages)began to provide language service for emperors in Zhou Dynasty.As bridges between human beings'communication,interpretation linked history with modern society,connected cultures here and there.In 1958,Roger Glemet,professor of Geneva University,pointed out in his thesis that not until 20 years ago,it was impossible to consider conference interpretation as a formal topic of academic thesis and this can be regarded as the earliest published English thesis on interpretation study.In 1986,John Dodds delivered a consequential declaration on the discipline of interpretation in Trieste.In his speech,interpretation was defined as a complexity of a technique,a discipline and a research.As an independent discipline,interpretation research requires its own methodology and theories.After the conference in Trieste,interdisciplinary cooperation boomed,astounding diversities loomed.Scholars in this field take multiple subjects and then analyzed them through multiple ways or from multiple aspects,tending to prove their understandings.Based on the practice conducted by the author who serves as an consecutive interpreter for two suppliers during the co-bidding conference,this report aims to give an overview of interpreting process,analyze interpreter's deficiencies such as pretermission and misinterpretation,inefficiency of note taking,and improper pauses with case analysis and combined with Daniel Gile's Effort Model to provide tentative coping tactics which cover accent and accumulative listening training,parallel texts reading,appropriate mind distribution,speech logicality training along with preliminary communication with customers.Through detailed analysis,the author hopes this report can shed light on training model of co-bidding conference and thus help other interpreters getting better interpreting performance as well as building up China's rolling stocks' international reputation.
