As the world's largest economy,America,receive the worldwide attention in the backdrop of the increasingly closed globalization.Presidents of America wielded enormous power under the shelter of the Constitution.Their decisions often affect the political activities of other countries.Hillary has a political life of thirty years.An excellent translation of Hillary's campaign speech contributes to a better understanding of America's political dynamics.We can promote exchange and cooperation with America by enacting suitable diplomatic policies according to the information that are disclosed in her speeches.The material of this research report is one of Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign speeches.As the interpreter of this stimulated consecutive interpretation,the author's translation ability was improved by recording and correcting problems.As a political speech,the material is comprised of short and long sentences with the linguistic style of semi-oral and semi-written.But no matter which literary form the speech belongs to,verb still plays the pivotal role in syntactic structure and verbal communication.English sentence only needs one verb as the predicate,others have to change into non-predicate,such as gerund,participle or infinitive while in Chinese we have telescopic form and serial verb construction.These differences caused many difficulties in interpretation process.So the report focused on the interpretation of verbs.The interpretation practice is completed by these interpretationskills which are deployed under the guidance of Nida's ‘functional equivalence theory.In this practice report the author first give a brief introduction of this consecutive interpreting project and its linguistic features.Then the author describe the process of the simulated consecutive interpreting.Write down the interpreter's self-assessment and the assessment of the audiences.The author also describe the problems caused by the different usage of verbs in English and Chinese.The theoretical basis of this report is Nida's functional equivalence theory.At last,the author use some interpretation skills to solve the problems that appeared in the consecutive interpretation.The simulated consecutive interpreting of Remarks on American Values enhances the interpreter's translation ability.Through this systematic study,the author learned many corresponding coping methods to solve problems.What's more,the author hopes this paper can offer some help to those who were also confused by the same problems in their interpreting tasks.
