This project report is a reflection and summary of a simulative E-C consecutive interpreting task. The interpreting material is two English speeches of 2014 TED Talks playlist Take Charge of Your Healthcare on TED conference website,What Makes Us Get Sick? Look Upstream and Own Your Body's Data. The two different talks express one important theme that patients as we are,we should actively participate in getting better care. This report includes four parts, task description, process description, selected cases analysis and task conclusion.By comparing and contrasting the English transcription with the Chinese transcription, the author generalizes mistakes from linguistic and pragmatic aspects.Nida's functional equivalence theory is selected as the guiding theory for its applicability both for translation and interpretation, and some interpreting methods are put forward for later interpreters' reference.
