In recent years,the amount of students of Chinese language in Argentina has increased.In 2004,after the state visit of the President of The People's Republic of China to Argentina,Argentinean people became more interested in China and Chinese language.With 20000 km separating both countries,the gap that exists not only in their language but also in their culture is wide.Even though the number of students of Chinese language has increased,the level of Chinese language education is still not high.One of the reasons is that Chinese language education history in Argentina is short and still weak.Argentina is not part of a Chinese-character cultural circle,so students have to get used to the shape,pronunciation and meaning of every Chinese character.Moreover,some people think that Chinese characters are difficult to learn because of the big difference between Chinese and Spanish.For Argentinean students the process of learning Chinese characters is somewhat mysterious due to the fact that when they learn Chinese characters they have to improve their visual sense because for them recognizing the shape of a Chinese character proves to be very difficult.In this thesis,a survey and interviews were carried out so as to understand the existing problems in Argentinean Chinese characters education.The aim of this thesis is to investigate the difficulties of Argentinean Students in the acquisition of Chinese characters and Analysis of teaching methods.This thesis is divided into five chapters:First Chapter: Analysis of the situation of Chinese language students and Chinese language education in Argentina.Chinese language education in Argentina is not long,so the existing problems cannot be solved in a short period of time.Second chapter: In this thesis a survey was carried out so as to understand the difficulties of the Chinese character acquisition in Argentinean students.This survey reflects the common mistakes that Argentinean students make.Third chapter: Interviews to Chinese language teachers in Argentina were conducted so as to understand the situation of Chinese language education in this country.This chapter analyzes the existing problems,the teaching methods,the material used and the common mistakes made by Argentinean students.Fourth chapter: This chapter analyzes Chinese characters teaching methods.After understanding the problems of Chinese characters education,a teaching program and two different teaching cases were designed: the first teaching case is aimed at first level and the second one is for students whose level is above HSK3.Fifth chapter: Conclusion.
