Report On The E-C Translation Of Documents Of The Nuclear Waste Disposal

This report is completed on the basis of the E-C translation of nuclear waste disposal documents,including ―Hanford Tank Waste Retrieval,Treatment,and Disposition Framework” and “The Strategy for the Management and Disposal of Used Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Radioactive Waste”.The documents introduce the disposal and research methods of nuclear waste in the United States with the characteristics of clear structure,precise vocabulary and specific contents,which can provide reference and help to the cause of Chinese nuclear waste disposal.So the translation material is of great practical value.The translation text is given by a professor in the nuclear research field,which will provide a practical reference for their research.When analyzing the original text,the translator finds that Skopos theory is in line with the requirements of nuclear waste documents translation.This report,under the guidance of Skopos theory,combines with the translation of nuclear waste documents with feature analysis from three aspects of vocabulary,sentence patterns and text,which lays a foundation for the analysis and classification of the following examples.With a large number of examples,the translator believes that the difficult point is the translation of vocabulary and sentence pattern,and explores specific and effective translation strategies,such as word formation,conversion of word order,sentence segmentation.Finally,the translator summarizes the experience and skills of translating documents on nuclear waste disposal,aiming to help the translation of similar documents.After finishing the translation task,the translator carries on proofreading,correction and makes self-reflection about translation activities.Combining with the evaluation of the entrusting party,the translator summarizes the lessons and experiences through the translation process.Because of the lack of professional knowledge and time,the translator finds that there are some defects in understanding long and complicated sentences.But due to constant proof,the translation version can meet the requirements of the entrusting party,and receives praises from the client.At the same time,the translator acquires valuable experience from this translation.
