A Correlational Research On The Relationship Between Romantic Jealousy And Intimate Relationship Satisfaction Of College Students:the Mediating Role Of Self Concept

College students are at a crucial stage of life development according to psycho-social development theory and intimacy quality has an important impact on college students' life and learning.The purpose of the research was to investigate the status of college students' romantic jealousy and self concept,and further discuss the relationship among intimate relationship satisfaction and them.A total of 540 College students from Tianjin municipal and Shanxi province was selected to complete Romantic Jealousy Response Scale,Jealousy Behavior Response Scale,Self-concept Scale and Intimate Relationship Satisfaction Questionnaire by stratified sampling.494 valid questionnaires were collected.SPSS22.0 was used to analyze the data.Results from the study show that:1.Self-concept of college students in general is positive,and there are significant differences of Moral self between genders,Social self differences between only and non-only children,Single and in love.2.Second,college students generally have different levels of romantic jealousy.There is significant gender difference between romantic jealousy scene.There is significant difference of Retaliation and avoidance behavior between genders in Jealousy Behavior Response Scale.There is significant difference of Retaliation behavior between single-child and non single-child.Jealousy response is related to love length.3.In general,intimate relationship satisfaction of college students is at average and high level.And there are significant satisfaction differences between gender,the number of being in love and love length.4.There is a significant negative correlation between college students' romantic jealousy and intimate relationship satisfaction,and there is a significant positive correlation between college students' self concept and intimate relationship satisfaction.5.Self concept plays a complete mediating role between romantic jealousy and intimate relationship satisfaction.Research shows that college students' romantic jealousy and self-concept are related to intimate relationship satisfaction closely.The higher self-esteem and lower intimate relationship satisfaction,and more positive self-concept are indicators of higher the intimate relationship satisfaction.And self-concept plays a complete mediating role between romantic jealousy and intimate relationship satisfaction.Romantic jealousy can influence intimate relationship satisfaction through self-concept.
