In recent years, medical science has achieved great progress, which is of benefit to all people around the world.Against the background of globalization, the world is more closely linked and countries share and exchange the advanced medical science and research more frequently.Generally speaking, the most progressive research reports in medical science are published in English. In China not all medical researchers and interested readers of medical science understand English well enough for technical reports.Consequently, there is a demand for medical translation from English to Chinese.Medical translation has progressed well, particularly from the period of the founding of the People's Republic of China to the present, but it is far from enough for the translation of medical documents especial those reporting advanced researches in English, for this reason, posing a substantial barrier to medical communication. The author will analyze a translation of a medical text and give a report on the basis of the translation. This report is based on the translation of a section of the book Environmental Hazards and Neurodevelopment, published by Apple Academic Press in 2015.It relates to research into the association between Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder,Learning Disability,Special Education and other neurodevelopmental disorders and Environmental Hazards. The target readers of the translation are medical researchers and professionals as well as the interested readers in medical science. This translation report includes an introduction to the task background, task purpose and significance, task description, translation process and case analysis.Case analysis of this medical text translation is performed from the lexical level, the syntactical level and the textual level. To achieve a high-quality target text, the author uses Newmark's Communicative Translation Theory to guide the translation, but also adopts other translation strategies and skills such as amplification, omission and conversion. In a word, the author intends that the version of the translation and analysis will offer useful suggestions for translators who are interested in this field of work.
