This article is a report of translation practice.The original text is the famous Australian woman writer Elizabeth Jolley's workof Learning to Dance.Learning to Dance is designed to look back over Elizabeth Jolley's life,to appreciate her achievements,to see the variety of ways in which she used her imagination and art to create something more revealing,more artistically truthful than a conventional autobiography.Learning to Dance is a collection of stories,poems and essays.The recurring themes of her life and work are evident in this collection: the complex relationships within families;homesickness and exile;intense love between women;the healing power of the land;the inevitability of loneliness;and the fragile nature of happiness.The report is based on the excerpts of the work and it is supplemented by practical cases.From the point of the passive voice in the translation practice,the translator discusses and analyzes the problems and solutions encountered in the translation.The practice report consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction,including the introduction of the original text and the authorand literature reviewof the translation of Learning to Dance.The second part is the description of translation process,including task division,translation tools and translation plan.The third part is the main part of the report,and the translator describes the difficulties of this translation practice and gives solutions to the difficulties with examples in the translation practice.The fourth part is the summary of the report,and the translator summarizes the harvestand experience in the translation practice and analyses the insufficiency in translation practice,and gives suggestions on translation practice.
