With the wide spread of the mass culture,biographies are becoming more and more popular among the public.Biographies of political figures can facilitate better understanding of foreign culture of politics and enhance cultural exchanges.Therefore,it's of great necessity to conduct more researches on the translation of biographies of political figures.41:A Portrait of My Father was published in November,2014.As soon as it was published,the book enjoyed wide popularity among readers.Stories of the Bush family are widely known.George Bush and George W.Bush are not only father and son,but also two U.S.presidents.The biography,written by George W.Bush,introduces the life experiences and political career of his father George Bush—the 41^st president of the United States.This translation report is based on the translation practice of the 6^th and the 10^th Chapter of 41:A Portrait of My Father,and analyzes some translation solutions of words and sentences.There are quite a lot of election words,personal pronouns,compound sentences and colloquial sentences in the original text.Due to these features,the following translation solutions are used:When translating election words into Chinese,the translator should take a careful consideration and choose the proper Chinese equivalents to express the original meaning precisely and appropriately.As for personal pronouns,sometimes we need to make their references clear,but sometimes we can omit several of them.When translating compound sentences into Chinese,the translator should analyze the sentence structure,adjust the word order and make the sentence conform to thinking patterns and expression habits of Chinese.As for colloquial sentences,it is important to supply some tone words to imitate the original style and convey its emotions correctly.Therefore,by adopting these translation solutions,the original meaning can be properly conveyed and the quality of translation text can be greatly improved.
