Zhengzhou is located in the Central Plain, which riches in Western and Eastern Zhou Dynasty Culture. In recent years,Zhengzhou northwest suburbs have found some important Zhou Dynasty city sites, such as Jiangzhai City site,Niangniangzhai City site,Guanzhuang City site,Dongzhao City site etc.All these cities are rich in cultural relics of Zhou Dynasty, showing the importance of the northern suburbs of Zhengzhou.Based on to sort out the unearthed remains of Guanzhuang ruins pottery workshop area ? Chezhuang site and other 5 sites in the northwest suburb of Zhengzhou,This thesis attempts to carry out research on the pottery industry in Zhou Dynasty. The thesis consists of five parts to study the pottery industry in Zhou Dynasty of this area.In the first part, the author reviews and summarizes the findings and summarizations of the Zhou Dynasty in the northwest suburb of Zhengzhou.Taking the Guanzhuang and Chezhuang sites as the main research object, than puts forward the research method of this paper, which is the combination of the traditional archaeological methods of stratigraphy, typology and technology archaeological new method, makes the study comprehensive and scientific. The second part mainly divides the Chezhuang and Guanzhuang site remains into three categories Ge and two categories Gui,meanwhile they also were divided into four periods from the early Western Zhou Dynasty to the Warring States. The third part analyse the chemical composition and admixture of pottery, soil, and clay, which based on the analysis of typology. The chemical composition of pottery in Guanzhuang site is analyzed and compared. It is shown that the main clay composition of the pottery produced in different periods is basically the same, which is independent of the type and shape. It should be produced locally. However, the new clay type and the material source and the way of incorporation have changed after the Spring and Autumn Period,Suggesting that changes in the living population lead to changes in the pottery process. The chemical composition and the composite materials of the seven Zhou Dynasty sites in the northwestern suburbs of Zhengzhou are similar to those in the same area. There are differences in the graininess, showing the pottery between the sites are local production. In the fourth part, according to the nature and the origin of the pottery in Guanzhuang site,it is inferred that the ethnic groups in the late Western Zhou Dynasty were mainly composed of adherents of Shang dynasty and Zhou people. After the Spring and Autumn Period,Zhou people occupied the dominant position.Guzhuang site pottery workshop area shows its nature for the industrial production, not the family workshop production mode. Finally, according to the evolution of pottery, pottery craft and city site shape,It is speculated that Guanzhuang city site is a military city. The conclusion part summarizes the main viewpoints of the thesis.Through the analysis of the traditional typology and the composition of the pottery, the paper analyzes and studies the pottery of Zhou Dynasty ruins in the northwest of Zhengzhou, and deepened the analysis of the Guanzhuang and Chezhuang site in Zhou Dynasty in the northwest suburb of Zhengzhou. And it is also an example of the combination of the new method of archeology and archaeological studies in archaeological culture.
