On Xunzi's "Political Thought Of Li And Yue"

Xuncius' s Philosophical thought is the inheritance and increase and decrease to the political thought of Confucianism in the pre-Qin period.Confucius has laid the foundation of moral politics for Confucianism and takes “Benevolence” as the core.From the dimension of “rule by moral force”,he has established the keynote off focusing on the absolute conviction and identity in governing process and focusing on Let the will be set on the path of duty,Let every attainment in what is good be firmly grasped,Let perfect virtue be accorded with,Let relaxation and enjoyment be found in the polite arts.Meniscus develops the thought of Confucius' s “benevolence”,which has placed the metaphysical source for “benevolence”---“the goodness in human”.Therefore,he advocates to pat great attention to the main body of morality,excavates own potential and expands the kindness of inner heart.Based on Confucius' s thought,Xuncius absorbs and criticizes the thoughts of various schools and provides the “political thought of Li and Yue”.From the reality,Xuncius thinks that the source that people can survive and master all things is that people can “flock” together.How to realize a good and sustainable group is the political purpose,so Xuncius takes the “good group” as the starting point and thinks that the standard of measuring “good group” is to realize the individuals under the ethnic orders can perform their responsibilities in their positions and form the united group relation.“Good Group” relies on good group relations.The good group relations mean that the individuals in the group are kind.Xuncius thinks that making individuals be kind,on one side,it relies on practicing human bodies,on the other side,it relies on cultivating your heart and the key is to “cultivate the minds”.Human nature has the side of drawing on advantages and avoiding disadvantages.The key way of avoiding the development of human's nature to evilness depends on the cognition and selection to “kindness”,but heart is easily covered by materials.Therefore,it is necessary to “govern the heart”.Human heart is born to have the function of understanding,distinguishing and selection,so heart can be cured.Xuncius says “Yue can make people remove misunderstanding and make the high and the low get along with each other harmoniously.Li can make people tell the differences of the respectable and the humble.Yue and Li exist side by side and play a part together,which can control people”.The spirit of Li is regulation and the spirit of Yue is cognition.Li have the function of separating and Yue has the function of connection,so we think the fundamental solution of Xuncius' s “governing human nature” and realizing “good group” is the “political thought of Li and Yue”.The article mainly divides into two parts.The first chapter is the first part.Through the discussion on the major political thoughts of Confucius,Meniscus and Xuncius under the background of the culture of Li and Yue,reflect the relations between Li and Yue excavate the connotation of Xuncius' s “political thought of Li and Yue” and achieve the basic character of political philosophy.The second,third and forth chapter are the second part.From the starting point of Xuncius' s political philosophy-“good group”,infer that the basic solution of realizing “good group” to Xuncius is “political thought of Li and Yue” by realizing the key of “good group” – “governing human heart”.Through the means of carrying forward gradually,research the deploying process of Xuncius' s philosophical thought.The article tries to complement the situation of only paying attention to “rule by ritual” unilaterally in the research of Xuncius' s political philosophy with “Yue”.We think “rule by Yue” is the special part in the Confucian political thought system.“political thought of Li and Yue” can comprehensively,systematically and precisely present Xuncius' s political ideology.From the perspective of “Li and Yue”,the article studies that Xuncius' s philosophical ideology can also make him to be the master of Confucianism.
