A Report On The Translation Of Oceans Of The Discover Science Series

In order to accumulate translation experience,enhance capacity,broaden her knowledge base and explore the market,the author signed a contract with China Pictorial Publishing House on translating a science magazine of around 100,000 words.This report will elaborate on the translation problems and difficulties,analyze the causes and put forward solutions.Based on this translation practice,the report discusses how to become a good translator and provides guidance for future translation practice.The report has five parts.The first part introduces the background of the project and the structure of the report.The second part describes the process of the project,which includes selection of translators,signing contracts,preparation before the practice,the translation per se and review.The third part analyses problems during the translation and corresponding solutions.The report will discuss translation issues from three aspects:comprehension,expression and adaptation.The fourth part provides recommendations.Through this practice,the translator has a deeper understanding of translation.The report,therefore,suggests several qualities for a good translator and provides reflections on the market.The fifth part summarizes the report and suggests directions of further efforts.
