From April 18th to May 31th,2019,the author translated nine children's popular science books-Steve Parish KIDS Story Books for Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press.As the number of words in the source text is about 8.000 and the text is relatively easy to understand,the author was able to complete the translation task within a short time.This report describes the translation practice,analyzes the problems and difficulties encountered in the translation process with the help of "compression,expression,adaptation(CEA)" framework proposed by Li Changshuan(2014),puts forward solutions and strategies,summarizes the translation experience,provides guidance and suggestions for the future translation of popular science literature for children,and puts forward the author's post-translation experience and reflection.The report is divided into four parts.The first part briefly introduces the background,content,source text's features and the overall structure of the practice report.The second part describes the translation process from three aspects:pre-translation,during-translation and post-translation.Among them,the pre-translation part includes trial translation and selection,contract signing,understanding of the translation task and reasonable time arrangement.The during-translation part briefly introduces the translation process.The post-translation part refers to self-revision.In the third part,the author briefly reviews the studies on children's literature translation at home and abroad,and introduces CEA framework.Then,problems encountered in translation are analyzed with examples from comprehension,expression and adaptation,and solutions are proposed.The comprehension part includes searching information through the Internet and comprehending through the context.The expression part introduces five aspects:conciseness,vividness,variety,the use of reduplicated words and four-character idioms.The adaptation part is divided into five aspects:adding conjunctions,omission,specifying pronouns,explanation and changing expressions.The fourth part summarizes the translation practice,points out that CEA framework can guide the translation process,summarizes the application of this framework in the translation of children's popular science literature,presents the gains,experience and shortcomings,puts forward suggestions and discusses what should be done to become a professional translator.
