This report is a simulated consecutive interpretation practice report based on the UK former Prime Minister David Cameron's speech at the Conservative conference on year 2014 and 2015.Political speech is to convey the values,ideas and policies of the party or government to the public and to the outside world.Interpretation under this circumstance is to remove the barriers among countries.The whole interpreting process is comprised in this report,start from preparation,to simulated practice recording at the phonetic classroom,and the article writing afterward.This simulated interpreting was recorded at the phonetic classroom with specialized equipment.Audiences are MTI students with good English knowledge.Report is written based on this simulated interpreting,and divided into four parts.Introduction,is to states out the background information on interpreting material and report itself.Second part describes pre-interpreting preparation,which is to elaborate the preparation process.Third part is case analysis.Three basic concepts of the interpretive theory,comprehension,deverbalization and re-expression,are the basis of the case analysis.Key and difficulties interpreter encountered and other strategies used in interpreting are also discussed with examples and explanations.Last part is conclusion,which states out the findings and suggestions for both author and readers.The author holds opinion that only long term accumulation and practice can make the interpreting goes more smoothly.In interpreting,the interpreter should be more flexible given the different speaker has different speaking styles.The author also believed that comprehension in the interpretive theory is as important as deverbalization.
