A Simulated Interpreting Practice Of The Background,Structure And Establishment Of U.S. Federal Constitution

This report is a simulated consecutive interpretation practice of a speech made by Robert W.Glover in March 15 th 2017 at Victoria University,a professor of politics at the University of Maine.This material lasts about one and a half hours,and it conveys the background,structure and establishment of U.S.Federal Constitution and involved in the field of American politics,history and law.A large number of professional terms require the interpreter to have a high level of interpretation and professionalism.The interpreter mainly prepares for the simulated interpretation from the following three aspects: namely relative material learning,data and information collection,and the elementary interpretation ability to ensure high-quality interpretation task.The most important part of this report is the problem-solving part.The interpreter has found out three main problems encountered in the interpreting practice.First one is the long sentence interpretation.The main solution is reorganization which is guided by the interpretive theory.Second one is figure interpretation and the interpreter solves it by mastering the English-Chinese digital conversion rules.At last,the structure of the interpreted version should be in accordance with the preciseness of legal interpretation and faithful to the original material.From this interpretation task,the interpreter has learned lot.Firstly,adequate and sufficient preparations are necessary.Secondly,the interpreter should combine the theory with the practice.Thirdly,the interpreter should take any opportunity to accumulate the bilingual knowledge in various fields.Fourthly,the interpreter should keep a positive attitude throughout the interpretation process and strictly abide by the guidelines of professional interpreter to better play the role as the bridge of human communication and cultural exchanges.
