This is a translation report on relative clauses. There are a lot of relative clauses in the legal text, especially in the text of educational legislation, in which exists a wide range of relative clauses that are complicated in structure. Therefore, the translation of relative clauses,to a greater extent, determines the quality of the translated version. In this report, the author aims to analyze the translation skills of relative clauses in Alabama Education Act (2005).Firstly, the author makes a general overview of relative clauses. Then the author briefly analyzes the structures of restrictive and non-restrictive relative clauses, and points out general translation skills of relative clauses. By using some examples in Alabama Education Act(2005),the author specifically discusses three translation skills: pre-attributive, division and shift translation. Finally, the author concludes with the lessons learned in the process of translating and points out the prospects for the future study.
