The translation of the source text is Little Bits of Sky by the British writer S.E.Durrant,a children’s fiction. There are exist big differences between Chinese novels and English books in writing style and passage construction, which are the difficulties in translation and also the focuses in translation. As a piece of children’s literature, the language of Little Bits of Sky is childish, colloquial and creative. The original text is narrated from an 11-year-old girl’s perspective, and it has a large number of character description and psychological description. Therefore, how to restore the whole story from the little girl’s sight coupled with literary colour is also difficult. The translation theory adopted in this translation is Alexander Fraser Tytler’s Three Principles of Translation, namely, the main contents includes that "a translation should give a complete transcript of the ideas of the original work;the style and manner of writing should be of the same character as that of the original;and a translation should have all the ease of the original composition. The translation report is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction, mainly introducing the translation project;the second part briefly describes the pre-translation preparation, including the understanding of the whole works and the author;the third part is the translation theory, this part elaborates the Tytler’s translation thought;the fourth part is the case analysis;the fifth part summarizes the discovery, harvest, and experience in this translation practice.
