A Practice Report On Liaison Interpreting For A Visit To Arcade Town In Wuzhou

With China's rising international status and increasingly important role in international arenas,different kinds of international events are held in China which not only promotes international cultural exchanges,but also enhances the mutual understanding between China and people around the world.Therefore,there are more and more demands for interpreters.For interpreters,they are not only required to communicate without cultural barriers between Eastern and Western,but also required to have the ability to deal with unexpected circumstances.The contents of this report are based on the author's reception work when Bengtsfors delegation of Sweden visited Wuzhou during Jewel Festival.During the reception,the author served as the interpreter of Wuzhou municipal and the Swedish delegation,completing the escort interpreting and the consecutive interpreting of tour guide explanation during the visit.This report analyzes five parts.The first part introduces the interpretation task,and describes the task content,task purpose and requirements and service object.The second part elaborates the preparation of the author's interpretation,including the preparation of the related background knowledge and the formulation of the glossary,a description of the interpretation process and interpretation evaluation.The third part evaluates the author's interpreting task,analyzes the specific cases,and puts forward the selected interpretation strategies and solutions to the difficulties.The fourth part is the summary of practice,summing up the practical experience in the interpretation process,and make suggestions for future interpretation work.
