China-ASEAN Seminar on Preventing and Controlling Animal Infectious Diseases 2016 was co-sponsored by International Cooperation Department of Ministry of Agriculture of China,Science and Technology Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,Department of Aquatic Animals,Livestock and Veterinarian of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and organized by Guangxi Veterinary Research Institute.As a platform of sharing animal disease control technologies among China,ASEAN and BRI countries,the seminar aims at promoting regional development on livestock husbandry and disease control,facilitating the going-out and bringing-in of excellent enterprises in relevant fields and pushing forward economic and academic growth.This was the seventh convocation.In answer to the request of Guangxi Veterinary Research Institute,the author was sent by his university to take on the assignment.This paper is written in the form of practice report,elaborating the whole assignment process in five chapters,namely,task description,pre-interpreting preparation,interpreting analysis,interpreting evaluation and conclusion.The first chapter briefs the background and process of the assignment.The second chapter looks at the pre-interpreting preparation process with details,including long-term and short-term preparation.The third chapter is theory-oriented analysis on both C-E and E-C interpreting.Interpretive Theory of Translation was adopted to discuss the coping tactics for illogical,redundant,grammatically and syntactically flawed and fragmented speeches.Some coping strategies by Daniel Gile and Roderick Jones were implemented to deal with pronunciation varieties.Related theories about interpreter's role was borrowed to shed light on the mediating role of an interpreter.The fourth and fifth chapters evaluate the interpreting from both author's and client's point of view and draw the conclusion of this paper.What's also worth noticing is that both the Chinese and the foreign speakers spoke with evident local accents.Valuable lessons can be drawn from experience as such.The author hopes this paper can be of proper reference for local interpreter cultivation.
