The rapid economic growth of China has deepened and enhanced by the trade transactions of China with other countries especially the states in Central Asia. The strategic conception of the "One Belt and One Road" is proposed by Xi Jinping, the President of People’s Republic of China, during his state visits to Central Asia and Southeast Asia in September and October, 2013, which has aroused active responses from the international community and countries involved. The special coverage titled as Great power strategy behind the "One Belt and One Road": Aged Silk Road and Modern Rise used as the source text for translation survey is selected from the famous journal Life Week symbolized by its professional and special coverage on current hot issues. This project of translation report aims to tackle the difficulties and problems of the texts translation by analyzing the linguistic characteristics between Chinese and English and applying the translation techniques to practice in consistency with case analysis. More specifically, the analysis is divided into two main parts including lexical and syntactic levels. The lexical problems fall into three parts of abbreviations, idioms, and metaphors. The complex sentences and sentences with duplicated attributive and prepositional phrases are included into syntactic difficulties analysis.Based on the purposes of the overall project, this paper is conducted on the basis of Functional Equivalence Theory put forward by Eugene A. Nida and Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation by Peter Newmark so as to analyze and solve the difficulties of translation. Adjusting the theory into practice, various translation techniques can be taken into lexical and syntactic accommodations such as referring to the parallel texts, semantic interpretation, class shifts, augments, omission, structure rearrangement, and main-subordinate clause exchange. The survey of the original text after all this efforts including analysis and discussion may yield to professional and practical guidance and lessons for future translation works.
