With the advancement of the globalization, China's demand for foreign original textbooks is on the increase and the introduction of the original version has played a positive role in promoting textbook construction of domestic institutions of higher learning.The translation of textbooks has a direct bearing on the effective dissemination of knowledge and culture. Therefore it heightened the demand for its translation strategy.Though the current number of translation version introduced from abroad is increasing, the theoretical research on textbook translation is still an emerging realm, thus requiring systematic translation theory and strategy as guideline.This project is based on the 14th chapter of the original textbook Creative Writing in the Digital Age. Throughout the case study on the source text, the author of the present paper aims to testify the purpose and significance of textbook translation, and to explore the role of translators and strategies applied in textbook translation. In addition, the author emphasizes the underlying cultural connotation besides the literal meaning under the theoretical guidance of functional equivalence theory. Domestic creative writing as an emerging subject is still in an exploratory stage, and therefore, this textbook fills in a gap in the creative writing textbooks against the backdrop of digitization and promotes the development of creative cultural industry. With the technical and interdisciplinary features,the translation project of these textbooks is of both difficulty and great value. Meanwhile,translation theory and translation practice are supplementary to each other. Thus, the study on translation theory and strategy is of great importance to the future practice. Hopefully,this project can generalize the related strategies so as to provide some experience and reference to the novice textbook translators and the future related translation studies.
