Amalgamation Trends Of Chinese And Western Painting While Reserving The Chinese Essence—A Study On The Oil Paintings Collected By The Liu Haisu Art Museum In Shanghai

This paper sets its focus on fine arts,adopting the iconographic method to research on the significance and value of Liu Haisu 's oil paintings collected by the Liu Haisu Art Museum in Shanghai through a field study.Liu Haisu integrates the techniques used by traditional Chines ink painting with his oil painting where the style features reflected through images casts a positive impact on the enrichment and development of the expressive language in Chinese oil paintings.The style features expressed in Liu Haisu's works break down the culture barrier separating Chinese and Western arts.The combination of traditional Chinese paintings and oil painting language has improved the nationalized process of Chinese oil painting and inspired many followers.This paper constructing its structure based on “learning process-style features-value and influence” starts from Liu Haisu's learning experiences in Western and Chinese paintings as a way to analyze the reasons affecting his artistic style to mature;secondly,reviewing the works in the Liu Haisu Art Museum in Shanghai,this paper analyzes and compares the characteristics and spiritual connotations of his oil paintings of various stages to generate an in-depth understanding on his arts;finally,the paper briefly describes the artistic value and significance of his oil paintings in terms of the enlightenment of expressive oil painting and its influence on the author's future creative works.The paper is divided into three parts: Chapter 1 briefly describes Liu Haisu's painting career and the existence of his works;analyzes the present situation of the oil paintings collected by the Liu Haisu Art Museum in Shanghai.Chapter 2 focuses on the three stages of Liu Haisu's painting career,classifies and studies the oil paintings of Shanghai Liu Haisu Art Museum,analyzes the painting characteristics and techniques in detail,and discusses his perspectives in terms of the three creative stages,respectively,including the influence of western painting,the arts exploration of integration between the Chinese and the Western and the use of ethnical elements.Chapter 3 studies the enlightening significance of Chines-Western merge and the creative value from his oil paintings.Through this study,we can achieve two purposes: the first is to research on the oil painting works of Shanghai Liu Haisu Art Museum in a systematic way so as to further understand the Chinese characteristics and expressive feature in Liu Haisu's oil paintings and clarify the classification of the oil paintings for the convenience of later study.The second is to reveal the enlightening significance of Liu Haisu's works and value on today's oil paintings by analyzing the characteristics and techniques of his paintings in the hope to inspire the future artistic creations.
