Travels of a Pioneer of Commerce in Pigtail and Petticoats mainly described what the original author had seen, heard and experienced during his business travel across the China's mainland in the late Qing Dynasty. The whole book covers from government officials to common people, from social customs to commercial contacts and from natural scenery to local dwellings. From the perspective of western commerce pioneer,Travels of a Pioneer of Commerce in Pigtail and Petticoats(Chapter 2),belongs to a travelogue with narration and description as a major part.Travelogue is quite different from other literary texts and non-literary texts. It emphasizes more of the description of objective matters.Although it mainly states real facts,it still emphasizes the original text author's subjective attitudes. Therefore, according to the language features of the original text, the translator took Nord's principle of function plus loyalty as the theoretical guide to her translation practice report, based on this, she discussed translation processes on the lexical level, sentences structure level and the text level. In the translation process, the translator tried to make the target text authentic and fluent to satisfy target readers' needs.Under the guidance of Nord's principle of function plus loyalty, the translator deepens the knowledge of the original contents and language features, improves her own translational level and skills, and provides some assistance and reference to later translators' studies. It also provides a large number of materials for people to study the history of China's mainland and to know the historical and cultural communications between China and western countries.
