With the speeding up of globalization and the further deepening of the cultural exchange between China and the western world,the translation of traveling writings plays an increasingly important role in the intercultural communication.Based on the translation of Travels of a Pioneer of Commerce in Pigtail and Petticoats(Excerpts)by Thomas Thornville Cooper,this report introduced,analyzed and summarized the content,process and results of the translation.In this report,the author of the current report introduces the source,significance,requirements of the project as well as the structure of the report,and analyzes the feature of the source text.In order to make the target text much more faithful,and make the reader clearly understand the various aspects of the situation in Tibet,the author elucidates on some translation examples from the lexical,syntactic and discourse level,undertakes an analysis,and then offers the corresponding translation methods with the equivalent effect theory.During the translation,the author finds out that equivalence in translation is a kind of comprehensive relationship.In order to accurately convey the original information and achieve equivalence effect,the translators need to have a comprehensive and deep understanding of the relationship between the equivalence and change and the acceptance channel between the readers of translation and the readers of the original.Finally,the author of the current report hopes this translation report has a valuable reference for the translation of travel note and social study.
