With domestic demand for electricity getting saturated and the Belt and Road Initiative putting forward,many domestic electricity enterprises respond to the call of government,actively participating the investment of overseas electricity market,and they contract a series of overseas electric power projects.However,in view of the differences in language and culture between different countries,many professional translators and interpreters in electricity field are needed by electricity enterprises to accelerate communication between both parties involved,thus successfully completing their contracted electric power projects.In these kinds of electric power projects,interpreters not only undertake consecutive interpreting of related meetings,but also take charge of communication with both parties involved.Therefore,studying these kinds of interpreting projects can help related interpreters better adapt to overseas electricity interpreting,thus promoting the development of electricity translation and interpreting.This interpreting report analyzes interpreting practice regarding equipment installation and commissioning in CALACA CFB coal-fired power plant project in the Philippines,accomplished by the author in China National Electric Engineering Corporation.First,a brief introduction about this interpreting project is given.Then,this interpreting report provides the author's preparations before interpreting.Next,this interpreting report introduces related interpreting theories used by the author in this project,namely,Daniel Gile's Comprehension Equation in interpreting and D.Seleskovitch's Theory of Sense,and provide relevant examples to illustrate how to use the above theories to solve problems including the author's lack of related specialized vocabulary,in-adaptation of pronunciation and accent of Filipino,the author's lack of relevant knowledge about electricity,and the author's lack of the customs of the natives and religious culture,etc.Meanwhile,dealing with unexpected events is also listed in this interpreting report.Then,the evaluation regarding the result of this interpreting project is given from the perspective of both the client and the author himself.Finally,this interpreting report summarizes the meaning and value of this project,problems and solutions during the process of this project,unsolved problems,as well as enlightenment for future work.
