This is a practice report on the translation of financial text.The original text,“Special Report: International Banking”,is published on the special report column of The Economist on May 9,2015.The special report systematically introduces the competition between international banks and P2 P lending platforms.After this translation practice,the author improves the ability to translate financial text,finds out translation difficulties of financial text,and explores ways and rules to solve translation problems.This translation report includes four parts.Part One introduces background,objectives,significance and report structure.Part Two describes the source and content of material,analyzes language features of material,i.e.high preciseness and strong logic.Part Three introduces difficulties which includes translation norm of financial term and non-professional vocabulary,the assurance of logical relation between sentences,the translation of cutting-edge information,literary style of The Economist,functional equivalence as well as translation tools.Combined with translation strategies by word equivalence,sentence equivalence,content equivalence and stylistic equivalence,the paper discusses the application of translation strategies and invites financial practitioners to proofread the translated text so as to ensure the application of functional equivalence in translation difficulties.Part Four sums up translation problems,deficiencies and unsolved problems.
