Languages are generally taught and assessed in terms of the “four skills”:listening,speaking,reading,and writing.Among the four skills,listening comes as first.Social activities can be carried out smoothly only when you can understand each other.Therefore,listening course is always considered important in teaching any language as a foreign language.During my time as a teacher of elementary listening courses of Chinese teaching for half a year,I have found that some issues are not to be solved with traditional teaching methods in Chinese-teaching as a foreign language.This thesis explores the major problems in the elementary Chinese listening class,and then explores the strategies and methods which can improve the teaching efficiency and effect.Based on the task-based teaching method,this paper introduces the concept of "task" and the related theory into the elementary Chinese listening class,and effectively solves the prominent problems in the elementary Chinese listening class.This paper will show the teaching designs in three levels of elementary Chinese listening class:phonetics,dialogue and short essay,in order to summarize the advantages of using this teaching method.Through the teaching designs being carried out,in the end of the essay,author will give the reflection after teaching practice from the angle of contrasting traditional teaching methods.
