Interpretation Report On The Trilateral Talk Among Yonghong Barolo,Fiberhome And Woolworths

Acting as a bridge connecting different language users,interpreters,in addition to the basiclanguage transfer, need to sift and integrate a large amount of information, so as to accurately andefficiently convey the intention of the speaker while keeping pace with the conversation. This reportdescribes in detail obstacles the reporter encountered when undertaking interpreting tasks in thetripartite meeting between Yonghong Barolo, Fiberhome and Woolworths. On the basis of researchachievements of domestic and foreign experts, the reporter will put forward correspondingsolutions.In this project, the reporter encountered many tricky problems, the majority of which are posedby the massive amount of source language information Accurately recording source language,identifying core information, integrating information segments and finally conveying translated textin a proper way are four major issues. With the help of the skopos theory and personal research,thereporter found that the following methods can solve these problems. The first one is to make clearwhat is the purpose of this meeting in order to draw a distinction between the primary andperipheral information; the second is to strengthen the training of interpretation notes based onlogical analysis; the third point is to make adequate preparatory work before the interpretation andmake reasonable speculation; besides, a good interpreter should also bear the responsibility fordealing with emergency in the event.Theories and methods raised in this report are based on the combination of practice andacademic research. The reporter sincerely hopes that this reporter will be helpful to the progress oftranslation research and practice in China.
