The interpretation is an arduous job full of challenges. In business communications, the interpreters are usually under intense pressure and are supposed to complete the correct and effective translation from the source language to the target language within limited time, which will impose tremendous difficulties on the interpreters during business interpreting. In numerous interpreting contexts, there exists much informal and colloquial information and vocabularies bearing unique connotations of local cultures. Therefore, literal interpreting in these cases is apt to cause unnecessary misunderstandings and information missing. However, there have been rare deep researches on business interpreting activities.Based on the skopos theory and the interpreting materials during the author’s postgraduate phase, the thesis explores the ways to deal with the information missing in business communications from the psychological configuration. Through analyzing the interpreting materials and the characteristics of business conversations, the writer summarizes the concrete methods to deal with the problem of information missing in order to improve the skills of interpreters.The author believes that information missing under the business circumstances is common, main reasons for which are the colloquial features of business communications, many differences between Chinese and English cultures and the possible information omissions of the interpreter due to various factors. In order to maximize the effectiveness of information transmitting, the interpreter is supposed not only to have a basic and solid foundation of the two languages, but also to understand and internalize business expertise, acquire a large amount of cultural knowledge and try to build up an encyclopedic database of different aspects in society. And when it turns to be a site interpreting, under the guidance of Gestalt psychology on common sense and interpreting experiences, the interpreter will be able to make necessary and effective compensation for missed information, based on features of oral business vocabularies and logical structures of sentences. The main part of this paper selects and analyses some business interpretation examples and put forward from both vocabulary and logics specific methods to compensate necessarily for incomplete or missed information, so to help the target-language audience get authentic and accurate access to the information and meanings that the source language bears and thus facilitate a smooth business communication.
