Zhu Ziqing's Acceptance Of Semantics And Chinese Ancient Literature Research

When the semantics had its vitality again in the 1920's in the west,Richards applied psychology and semantics to literary studies,becoming one of the pioneers of the new criticism,although the name of "new criticism" had not been given at that time.As Richards and Empson came to China bringing semantics(initially called the "meaning"),it was adopted by some Chinese scholars.to explain the Chinese literature,and Zhu Ziqing is the most prominent one among them.Zhu Ziqing who first came into contact with Richards and Empson's works,applied the semantics to the research of Chinese classical literature,modern literature and teaching.Classical literature,however,is undoubtedly one of the most productive and fruitful property.Zhu Ziqing devoted most of his life to the study of classical literature.In June 1979,Richards fainted in his Qingdao lecture room and did not wake up any more.New criticism has not been the most popular genre,but it will never be outdated.Not only has it an extremely close relationship with Chinese academic,but also it occupies an important place in the world literature theories.It is very important for us to find the root of culture,to preserve our temperament and to regain the power of thinking from the classical poetry.How to understand poetry,to appreciate poetry and to learn poetry is directly related to our interest and the depth of understanding.Zhu Ziqing has explored a set of effective methods for us decades ago.This paper will comb Zhu Ziqing's accepting process from Richards and Empson's semantics.And on the basis of the Chinese traditional exegesis,textual research and impressionistic reviews,how the semantics is applied to the study of classical literature will be studied.And how to understand the meaning,emotion,intention,tone,appreciation of poetry and appreciate the artistic value of poetry itself through close reading and analysis of polysemy will be reviewed too.The main body of this paper is divided into five parts,including "the spread of semantics in China"," Zhu Ziqing's close reading analysis ",“polysemy of poetry” "'fu''bi' and metaphor","theory of zhu zi-qing classical poetry learning".The author will make every effort to present Zhu Ziqing's acceptance of semantics and the study of Chinese classical literature as thoroughly as possible.
