English Translation Under The Guidance Of Functional Translation Theories—Chapter Eight Of The Book Philosophy Of Technology,"The Relationship Between Technology And Science"

Following the implement of opening-door policy,technical communications between China and other countries in the world are getting closer.Technical English,as the main tool for improving technical communication in many countries,has arose widely attention.Hence,the need of technical translation increasing rapidly,so is our technical translators.At the same time,the novelty,diversity and complexity of technical translation are demanding harsher on translators.In the recent decades,scientific techs are developing quickly.Book translation related to tech has already become indispensable part.This thesis is an English translation report which based on the eighth chapter the relationship between technology and science of the book The Philosophy of Technology.The aim of this thesis is to get a further understanding of the features of technical translation and help strengthening the readability of domestic works by discussing the methods of technical translation.The Philosophy of Technology is a work written by Changshu Chen,the professor and doctoral supervisor of Grammar College in Northeastern University.This project is an important type of China’s National Social Sciences Fund,aims to support those Chinese scholars’ translation version of excellent achievements being published and released in authoritative institutions abroad whose work has been published in China already.This will not only help their work get into the broadcasting mainstream of foreign countries,but also improving the understanding of current China and its philosophy and social sciences.This English translation report includes four chapters.Chapter one is an overview of translation project,introducing the project background and completion process.Chapter two is the translation case,including pre-translation preparation and translation process.Chapter three is the translation case analysis,fully analyzing the concept of translation functional theories and also discussing technical translation skills by exemplifying with some examples under the guidance of functional principles.Chapter four is the conclusion part,summarizing the translation experience,lessons and remained problems during the translation process.The author was dedicated in combing the original language style and target readers with features of technical translation,jumping out of the old translation stereotype so that delivering original message more fluently.
