Report On Business Contract Translation

With the advancement of economic globalization and China's thriving opening,more and more foreign enterprises enter China,competing in this great potential market.These enterprises,whether they are Sino-foreign joint ventures,Chinese-foreign cooperative enterprises or foreign-funded enterprises,will sign kinds of contract terms in both Chinese and English when dealing business with Chinese enterprises,which is intended to facilitate both parties.This paper is based on the translation of Maintenance and Repair Services Contract and Annual Fixture Supply Contract in XX(China)Commercial Trading Company,ltd.These two original versions are very professional,hence,this paper is divided into four parts: the first chapter is a brief introduction to the background,requirement and significance of this translation project;the second chapter mainly focuses on the whole translation process,namely,the preparation of this translation,the difficulties and problems in the process of translation as well as proofread after translation;chapter three is the case study,which mainly elaborates in details on two aspects,words in business contract translation and sentences in business contract translation.As for the words part,there are four aspects: archaism,synonym,legal words and professional words.As for the sentences part,this paper uses fixed method,transition method and split method to analyze cliché,passive sentences and complex sentences in business contract;the fourth chapter makes a summary and reflection on the whole translation process in order to have inspiration and reference for the similar text in my future learning,living and working.The author hopes that the simple analysis of this paper will play a part in the future learning and work,and serve as a reference for others.
