The source text of this translation project is Chapters 17-20 of A Life In Museums:Managing Your Museum Career,Section II.A museum is a non-profit institution and open to the public,which displays,collects and protects human cultural relics.As prestigious institutions,the social value of museums is closely associated with their service quality.Therefore,Museum staffs should not only master professional knowledge,but also possess a high standard of professional ethics,thus providing high-quality services to the public.According to Peter Newmark's text typology,the source text is mainly an informative one with informative,expressive and vocative functions.This translation report analyzes the translation process and effects based on Peter Newmark's text typology as well as his semantic translation and communicative translation methods.The author analyzes many examples for further research of translation methods about texts,titles and slang.This translation project not only enhances the author's knowledge and interest in the museum field,but also improves the author's translation skills,deepens her understanding of translation theories and methods,thus providing experience and assistance for future translation practice.
