A Report On E-C Translation Of U.S. Magazine Acoustic Guitar(Excerpts)

People are more and more likely to entertain themselves in diverse ways on their spare time with an increasingly higher demand for life quality.Like the fantastic music books and concerts,music magazines are supposed to enormously enrich reader's knowledge and open their horizon as the gospel of most music lovers.The author finished this paper on the basis of 60,000 words of internship translating materials—English magazine Acoustic Guitar.This magazine is about the acoustic guitar,covering the detailed and professional guidance to readers through tracks,guitar products reviews and master interviews in each issue.The author mainly conducts the translating process with the help of three rules: Skopos Rule,Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule of Skopos theory,and also adopts the translating skills,like amplification,omission,liberal translation,conversion,etc.The author has improved in personal translation ability and qualities in music field through this practice.The company has offered positive feedback and given affirmation to the final translation.However,it is the first time for author to engage in translating music magazine,and also the translator lacks understanding of musical terminology and background knowledge.It is hoped that common discussion and progress can be achieved among English translators and the author based on this paper.Also it is hoped that this paper can offer reference value to music translators and bring inspiration and reflection to them.
