A Report On The Translation Of Science Website(Excerpt) In 2016

Popular science text is a type of technological writing to spread scientific and technological knowledge,and it is an important medium to promote the development of science and technology.Furthermore,popular science translation is a bridge to promote international scientific exchanges.With the increasing importance of science populization,the study of popular science translation is of great significance.Based on Skopos Theory,the author of this report chose the tech news excerpted from Science website(2016)as the source of translation.This thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter is a project description listing the project's origin and background.The second chapter is a brief introduction of Skopos Theory.The third chapter is the analysis of tech news;it mainly analyzes popular science text's features and translation principles.The fourth chapter is a case study that analyzes English-Chinese translation skills from three aspects: title,diction and sentence.The final chapter draws a conclusion of the report.Through this translation practice,the author came to the following understandings.First,the translation version should be accurate.Second,it should be fluently conforming to Chinese expression.Finally,the author should select appropriate translation methods to make the translation readable.
