With the inauguration of Free Trade Zone in Shanghai in 2013,the “Free Trade Zone” has became an upsurge in China. Many local governments have joined in a rally of establishing a free trade zone.Shanghai Free Trade Zone, however,as a new economic development model in China,is still in its infancy, whose development of management and system needs further exploration and improvement.By contrast, the regime of U.S.foreign trade zone has gradually grown into perfect and evolved into a rigorous and comprehensive system including laws, administrative regulations, state and local laws and regulations, case law and relevant international treaties related to customs which has some references for the evolution of China’s FTA.In light of this, the learning and understanding of western laws calls for the transformation among different legal language, namely, legal translation.Previously, the Evaluation and Consultation Service Base of Local Legislation of Guangdong Province entrusted our Guangdong University of Foreign Studies to translate some legal documents of free trade zones of other countries, the author of this paper feels honored to participate in this translation practice.Based on the translation of subpart A to subpart D of U.S.Foreign Trade Zone Regulations, the author analyzed the typical translated problems during the translation process of the Regulations and raised corresponding methods and answers with the help of supervisors. This report shall be divided into four parts: task description, process description, translation theory and case study.Through the translation of this foreign trade zone regulation of America, the author has found that the theory of static equivalence is a relatively new area which can be explored in legal translation. She hopes that this research could arouse more attention and interests from people to this field. |
