| Along with the development of globalization and cultural communication, the importance of legal translation manifests gradually. The communication and cooperation between China and the world are strengthened in politics, economy, culture, etc. Legal system is one of the important contents. The translation function of legal English is enhanced, and its importance is stressed. The integration of politics and economy in the world is strengthened. If China wants to march towards the world stage, it should follow the development of global economy and trade, and implements a more active opening strategy. The establishment of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone shows the new strategy of a wide opening-up. It is the first free trade zone in Chinese mainland, and it will bring new opportunities for the development of China.This project report takes the translation of the Regulations of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone as an instance. The author studies on the features of words and sentences under the guidance of the skopos theory. These regulations belong to the regulatory official documents, and the translation belongs to legal English. The outstanding point of legal language is objective and fair. The words used must be objective, true and credible for delivering information. This kind of official documents is different from ordinary English. The words and sentences are formal in written language. Serious texts and strict structures make it different from other presentations. The words used are accurate and standardized, and sentences are long and complex in this kind of documents. General translation principles and special rules shall be followed in the process of translation. This project report mentions the translation rules and methods for this kind of documents. |
