The whole world is in an age of profound changes.China has been closely linked up with the other parts of the world through globalization and advanced technology. The way that the world is now linked up and synched up means that the communication between China and other countries becomes increasingly frequent. The outside world wants to know more about China. And China also wants to know more about the outside world. However, due to the language barrier and time-saving requirements for conferences, the communication cannot be carried on without interpreters. Thus, interpreting and interpreters becomes more and more important. The materials of this report are two pieces of speech delivered by President Barack Obama. This report consists of five parts: introduction, task description, process description, case analysis and conclusion. The first part is a brief introduction of interpretation and the Adaptation Theory which is the guiding theory of this report. The second part is mainly about the preparation work and the speech features of President Barack Obama. And the third part gives a short presentation of the interpretation process. The forth part, case analysis is the main part of this report where the author analyzes the errors by using the Adaptation Theory and gives some advice in how to improve the interpreting quality. Finally, the fifth part gives a conclusion of the whole work. The author hopes that the examples and explanations will offer some experiences to the research in this field.
