In an age of globalization,finance,as a field characterized by cross-time and cross-space value exchanges,is playing a leading role in our international arena.Therefore,more and more translators have devoted to translating English financial articles into Chinese to promote mutual exchanges.As an essential part of EST,financial English not only shares similarities with EST,but also has its own features.The difficulties of financial translation represent that it is our duty to acquire more financial knowledge and translate these text using professional expressions on the basis of fully understanding the original text.Therefore,translators should follow certain translation standard,especially for those financial terms that should be standardized.This report uses Does favorable investor sentiment lead to costly decisions to go public?as the source text.In terms of the problems originating from this translation practice,the author makes a further elaboration.Through a large amount of case analyses,the author summarizes features of financial translation and offers some useful translation techniques,such as translating some financial terms literally,comprehending the meanings of words from context and the like.In terms of long sentences,Kernel Sentence is a good way to overcome syntactic barriers.At the end of the report are summaries and reflections,including reflections on shortage of financial knowledge and practice.In a word,the author hopes this translation practice may help to improve the abilities of translation and acquire a good knowledge of finance.
