Misinterpreting And Miss Of Interpreting In C-E Consecutive Interpreting And Their Coping Strategies

Based on the interpreting practice for the 2016 Seminar for Agricultural Officials from Zambia,the writer has noticed two interpreting phenomena that are very common during the process of interpreting and exertlarge influence on the effect of interpreting,namely misinterpreting and miss of interpreting.Therefore,the writer decided to analyze these two phenomena in order to find out the causes and come up with some coping strategies.In the first chapter,reasons why these two phenomena of misinterpreting and miss of interpreting are chosen to be the subjects of this report are introduced as well as some concepts related to interpreting,including the definition of interpreting and the process of consecutive interpreting.In the second chapter,specific analysis of these two phenomena are displayed,mainly includingcauses of these two phenomena.Basically speaking,the causes can be divided into two parts.Firstly,personal factors which refer to the abilities to comprehend the speech and the processing abilities of the interpreter.These factorsare related to the accumulation of knowledge,preparation and daily practice of the interpreter.Secondly,external factors which involve the transmission of the sound and so on.Based on detailed analysis of causes of the two phenomena of misinterpreting and miss of interpreting,the writer puts forward some coping strategies corresponding to these causes.These strategies include the preparation before interpreting,and some professional interpreting tactics which can effectively cope with the two phenomena of misinterpreting and miss of interpreting in the process of C-E consecutive interpreting.There are many influential factors of interpreting,including the interpreter's own knowledge reserves,the processing methods of the speech,interpreter's own psychological conditionsand the influence of the environment.It is hoped that the analysis of reasons and strategies can play the role of correcting these two phenomena of misinterpreting and miss of interpreting in the process of C-E consecutive interpreting.
