With the rapid development of market economy and the lost of “ iron rice bowl”era of Maoist days,entrepreneurship as one of the effective ways brings about prosperous economy.It is an emerging trend of talent cultivation and employment increase to foster awareness of entrepreneurship.In recent years,the government has been encouraging the entrepreneurship of university students.In 2014,Chinese Premier Li Keqiang proposed “public entrepreneurship” and “grass root entrepreneur”at Summer Davos Forum.This translation project Choose Yourself is a best-seller rated as “one of the 12 greatest business books in history” by the newspaper USA Today.It's indispensable to translate entrepreneurial book,meanwhile it contributes to stimulate the Chinese “innovation economy”.Based on the translation project of inspirational and entrepreneurial-oriented autobiography accomplished by the translator and under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalency theory,this translation report analyzes the difficulties of translators encountered in actual translation process.The main part of this report is to explain different translation strategies by giving typical examples to deal with three difficulties from lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.Chiefly,on lexical level,literal translation is put forward to deal with terms,special words and book titles,and other strategies,such as noting,transposition and diction are mentioned.Particularly,easily ignored functional words(e.g.articles and conjunctions),plural forms of nouns are suggested to adopt the methods of amplification and diction.As for syntactic difficulties,linear translation and syntactic restructuring are highlighted.The latter includes the strategies of inversion,conversion and explicitness change,which are briefly discussed combining with many selected examples.Also,the strategy of negation and parallelism translation are also adopted in this part.In orderto deal with the textual difficulties in terms of cohesion and coherence,addition and repetition are proposed.Through case study,this report has proved the practicability of functional equivalence theory in guiding translation practice of source text.The main point of this report is to summarize the features of inspirational and entrepreneurial-oriented autobiography English and provide effective translation strategies in order to improve the translation efficiency,strengthen the integrated capability of translators and provide a reference for entrepreneurs.
