| With the continuous development of globalization,the localization,a kind of software production activity which is used to satisfy the special requirements of users in the target market through processing certain products according to specific needs,continues to develop.As an important part,the localization translation grows up accordingly.In the above-mentioned context,the report discusses the translation of the Localization Project of the Weir Website(Excerpt).Based on Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory,the author explores four aspects including translation background and meaning,tools,methods,and problems.The author first makes a brief introduction to the translation background and preparation.In the case analysis,four aspects are discussed.In regard to the explicitation of pronouns,the pronoun should be expressed explicitly according to the specific circumstances when a pronoun is used to refer to the noun occurring before,so that target readers can clearly understand the original message of the source text.Secondly,English and Chinese are very different in sentence structures,so during translation,the structures can be appropriately adjusted to produce an idiomatic translation,which is easy to understand for target readers.What's more,if the predicate of a sentence is followed by multiple objects,these objects can be translated separately according to the context to make the translation smooth,thus playing a better communicative effect.To sum up,the translator should carry out website localization in consideration of the cultural and linguistic characteristics of the target readers,and not rigidly adhere to the original form to enable the target readers to obtain the same or similar effect as original readers.Besides,proper translation tools and skills should be adopted.Finally,the author hopes that this report will be helpful in localization projects,thus better achieving the goals of localization. |
